App Privacy Policy

Dernière mise à jour: 20 September 2026

1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, stored and shared when you use the FindMyTraveler mobile application (“FindMyTraveler”, the “App”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

FindMyTraveler is currently made available as an early-access and beta product. Features may be added, changed or removed as the product develops. We update this Privacy Policy when material changes to our data processing occur.

This Privacy Policy applies to the FindMyTraveler mobile application. The processing of personal data on findmytraveler.com, including website analytics, the waitlist and website communications, is covered by our separate Website Privacy Policy.

2. Controller and Contact

The controller responsible for the processing of personal data in connection with the FindMyTraveler App is:

Cristina Marta In der Müseren 6 8118 Pfaffhausen Switzerland

Email: contact@findmytraveler.com

You may contact us at any time with questions about this Privacy Policy, your personal data or the exercise of your privacy rights.

3. Information We Process

Depending on the features you use, FindMyTraveler may process the following categories of information.

3.1 Account and authentication information

When you create or use a FindMyTraveler account, we may process information such as:

  • your email address;
  • your FindMyTraveler and Firebase user identifiers;
  • account and authentication status;
  • account creation and security-related metadata.

Authentication is provided through Firebase Authentication. FindMyTraveler does not receive your password in plain text.

3.2 Profile information

You may provide profile information such as:

  • display name or username;
  • profile and cover images;
  • biography or profile description;
  • city, country or other profile location information;
  • other information you choose to make part of your FindMyTraveler profile.

Some profile information is intended to be visible to other FindMyTraveler users.

3.3 Location information

Location is an important part of FindMyTraveler.

If you grant location permission or use a location-based feature, we may process precise or approximate location information, including latitude and longitude.

Location information may be used for features such as:

  • displaying your position on maps;
  • selecting or attaching a location to travel content;
  • Posts and Live Moments;
  • travel memories and diary entries;
  • check-ins;
  • Journey recording;
  • nearby content;
  • location selection and search;
  • locations you intentionally share in messages;
  • other map-based features.

FindMyTraveler may also read location metadata contained in photos you select, where such metadata is available, in order to suggest the location where a photo was taken.

You remain in control of device location permission through your operating system settings.

The current beta version does not rely on continuous background location tracking. Journey location recording is currently designed around location access while the App is in use. Background Journey tracking may be introduced separately in a future version and would require additional technical and privacy disclosures.

3.4 Photos, videos, camera and microphone

If you choose to create or upload travel content, we may process:

  • photos;
  • videos;
  • video thumbnails or poster images;
  • media metadata;
  • audio recorded as part of a video;
  • edits, captions and other information associated with media.

The App requests access to your camera, photo library and microphone only for features that require them.

FindMyTraveler does not currently request permission to save media back to your Apple Photos library.

3.5 Posts, Live Moments and other user-generated content

We process content you create or upload through social and publishing features, including, depending on the feature:

  • Posts;
  • Live Moments;
  • Trip Updates;
  • captions and descriptions;
  • comments and replies;
  • reactions;
  • check-ins;
  • Moment Trails;
  • travel memories;
  • reports and moderation-related information.

Content that you publish through social features may be visible to other users according to the purpose and visibility of the relevant feature.

3.6 Trips, Trip Lab and travel-planning information

FindMyTraveler may process private travel and planning information such as:

  • trips;
  • travel dates;
  • destinations;
  • stops and routes;
  • Trip Lab collections;
  • saved travel ideas;
  • planned activities;
  • schedules;
  • notes;
  • itinerary information;
  • travel diary entries;
  • travel markers;
  • budget-related travel information where the relevant feature is used.

Private planning features are not intended to be publicly visible by default unless you explicitly use a sharing or publishing feature.

3.7 External content shared to Trip Lab

FindMyTraveler allows you to collect travel inspiration from external sources, for example by sharing or adding links from platforms or websites.

When you use this functionality, we may process information contained in or associated with the content you share, such as:

  • URLs;
  • titles;
  • captions or text;
  • platform metadata;
  • location references;
  • information necessary to identify a destination, place or travel idea.

This information is used to help organise travel inspiration inside Trip Lab.

The original third-party platform remains responsible for its own services and privacy practices.

3.8 Social interactions

We may process information relating to how you interact with other FindMyTraveler users, including:

  • follows and follow relationships;
  • saved content;
  • reactions;
  • comments;
  • content views;

  • message content;
  • sender and recipient identifiers;
  • timestamps;
  • attachments;
  • photos or other media;
  • locations you intentionally choose to share;
  • message-related metadata.

Messages and shared conversation data may necessarily be associated with more than one user.

3.10 Notifications

If notifications are enabled, FindMyTraveler may process:

  • your notification permission status;
  • notification preferences;
  • device or Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens required to deliver notifications.

You may disable notifications through your device settings.

3.11 Technical, security and diagnostic information

We and our technical service providers may process information required to operate, secure and troubleshoot the App, including:

  • app and device identifiers;
  • operating system and app version;
  • IP address;
  • network and request information;
  • security tokens;
  • Firebase App Check information;
  • performance and diagnostic information;
  • SDK usage and interaction information.

We use this information for app functionality, authentication, security, fraud and abuse prevention, debugging and service reliability.

4. How We Use Personal Data

We process personal data where necessary to:

  • create and manage your FindMyTraveler account;
  • provide the features you choose to use;
  • store and display your travel content;
  • provide maps, location and travel-planning functionality;
  • provide messaging and social features;

  • respond to support, privacy and legal requests;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing may be based on performance of the service you request, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing FindMyTraveler, or compliance with legal obligations.

Permissions such as location, camera, microphone, photos and notifications can be controlled through your device.

5. Visibility of Your Information

FindMyTraveler contains both private and social features.

Information may therefore have different visibility depending on how you use the App.

For example:

  • profile information may be visible to other users;
  • published Posts, Live Moments, Trip Updates, comments and check-ins may be visible through social features;
  • content sent in a conversation is shared with the participants of that conversation;
  • locations are shared with other users only where the relevant feature is designed to display them or where you intentionally share them;
  • Trip Lab and other personal travel-planning information are intended to remain private unless a sharing or publishing feature is used.

You should avoid publishing information that you do not want other users to see.

6. Service Providers

We use specialised service providers to operate FindMyTraveler.

Google Firebase and Google Cloud

FindMyTraveler uses Google Firebase services, including services such as:

  • Firebase Authentication;
  • Cloud Firestore;
  • Cloud Storage for Firebase;
  • Cloud Functions;
  • Firebase App Check;
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging.

These services provide authentication, backend storage, media storage, server-side functionality, security and notifications.

Google generally acts as a processor for customer data submitted through Firebase services, subject to its applicable data-processing terms.

Mapbox

FindMyTraveler uses Mapbox technology for map functionality.

When Mapbox functionality is used, Mapbox may receive technical, device, usage and location-related information in accordance with its SDK configuration and privacy practices.

Mapbox states that its mobile SDK telemetry may include location and related technical data and that its location telemetry is not used for advertising tracking.

Google Maps Platform and location services

Certain parts of FindMyTraveler currently use Google Maps Platform or related Google location functionality.

Depending on the feature, Google may receive map requests, location or place queries, IP address, device information and other technical information necessary to provide the requested map or location service.

Apple

On iOS, Apple provides operating-system services such as:

  • device permissions;
  • Apple Push Notification service;
  • App distribution through TestFlight or the App Store.

During TestFlight beta testing, Apple may collect and share certain crash, usage and feedback information with us in accordance with Apple’s TestFlight privacy terms.

Other infrastructure providers may be used where necessary to operate a particular feature. We remain responsible for selecting and managing processors in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

7. Tracking and Advertising

FindMyTraveler does not currently use your information for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework.

The current beta version does not display targeted advertising and does not request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission.

This does not prevent technical service providers from processing limited device, diagnostic, security or usage information where necessary to provide their services.

8. International Data Processing

FindMyTraveler is operated from Switzerland.

Some of our service providers and their subprocessors operate infrastructure in Switzerland, the European Economic Area, the United States and other countries.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on applicable legal safeguards, contractual protections and recognised transfer mechanisms as required by Swiss data-protection law and, where applicable, the GDPR.

The exact processing locations may depend on the service, infrastructure configuration and subprocessors used by the relevant provider.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide FindMyTraveler, maintain security, resolve disputes and comply with legal obligations.

In general:

  • account information is retained while your account remains active;
  • content you create is retained until you delete it, your account is deleted, or it is otherwise removed in accordance with the relevant feature;
  • notification tokens may be replaced or removed when they are no longer valid;
  • temporary files, caches and technical logs may be retained for shorter operational periods;
  • service providers may retain technical or security records according to their own contractual retention periods;
  • data that must be preserved for legal, security or dispute-resolution reasons may be retained for the period required for that purpose.

Backup copies may remain temporarily after deletion until they are overwritten or expire as part of normal backup processes.

10. Account and Data Deletion

You can initiate deletion of your FindMyTraveler account from within the App.

When an account deletion request is processed, we delete or anonymise personal data associated with the account where appropriate and where we are not legally required to retain it.

Some information may require special treatment rather than immediate deletion. For example:

  • content forming part of a conversation involving other users may need to be anonymised or otherwise handled so that the remaining conversation continues to function;
  • moderation, abuse-prevention or legal records may need to be retained where necessary;
  • backup or technical copies may remain for a limited period before expiry;
  • information that we are legally required to retain will be kept only for the required period.

If you experience a problem with account deletion, you may contact us at contact@findmytraveler.com.

11. Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration and disclosure.

These measures include, where appropriate:

  • authenticated access;
  • Firebase security rules;
  • App Check;
  • encrypted network connections;
  • provider-side encryption at rest;
  • access restrictions;
  • application-level permission and ownership controls.

No electronic service can guarantee absolute security.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights including:

  • the right to receive information about personal data we process about you;
  • the right to access your personal data;
  • the right to correct inaccurate data;
  • the right to request deletion;
  • the right to request restriction of processing;
  • the right to object to certain processing;
  • the right to receive certain data in a portable format;
  • the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.

Under Swiss data-protection law, you may in particular request information about whether and how personal data concerning you is processed.

Where the GDPR applies, additional rights under the GDPR may apply.

To exercise your rights, contact:

contact@findmytraveler.com

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

13. Automated Decision-Making

FindMyTraveler does not currently use solely automated decision-making that produces legal effects or similarly significant effects concerning users.

Automated functionality may be used to organise, classify, suggest or resolve travel-related information, but such functionality does not currently make legally significant decisions about users.

14. Children

FindMyTraveler is not intended to be used by children who are not legally permitted to provide the personal data required for the service under applicable law without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

If you believe that a child has provided personal data to FindMyTraveler in circumstances that are not permitted by law, please contact us.

15. Beta and TestFlight

During the early-access beta, FindMyTraveler may be distributed through Apple TestFlight.

Apple independently processes certain information related to TestFlight distribution and testing.

Apple may also provide us with information such as crash reports, usage information and feedback submitted by beta testers. We use such information to identify bugs, improve stability and prepare FindMyTraveler for broader release.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

FindMyTraveler is under active development.

We may update this Privacy Policy when:

  • features change;
  • new types of personal data are processed;
  • service providers change;
  • legal requirements change;
  • FindMyTraveler moves from beta to general availability.

The current version will be published on our website with the applicable “Last updated” date.

Material changes may also be communicated in the App where appropriate.
